To anyone struggling with their mental health this holiday season: read Les miserables by Victor Hugo
it won't help, but at least then you'll know about the sewers

The ultimate goal would be to gather all the blorbos together and put them in the same room. And I mean ALL
You bring me the Doctors with the universal translator so Eponine can hang with Elizabeth Bennet & Fanny Price and I want Legolas to meet Benedick from Much Ado about Nothing, not for any particular reason, I just want to know if they'd be friends. I think Marianne Dashwood would love Gilbert Markham and and Jane Eyre needs to have a serious discussion with the second Mrs. De Winter and maybe they could both give some advice to Rosamund from A Long Fatal Love Chase. What do Gandalf and Merlin think of Prospero and Howl? Can Princess Bubblegum do some mad science with Viktor Frankenstein?
The possibilities are literally endless.

hi Symph!! thank you sooo much for posting the Les Mis audios! if i were to request anything else, I would say Bring Him Home, Stars, One Day More, and/or the Finale! 🫶🏻
Bring Him Home had a lot of background noise unfortunately - a plane flew overhead, someone’s phone rang, the person next to me was eating popcorn… but I do have it! Here it is, just bear with me on the audio quality:
John Riddle makes you forget any background noise, though! I’ll also get your other requests uploaded in the morning - I can’t possibly deprive you of Jordan Donica’s “Stars”!

Watching another high school Les Mis and I ran into the oddest lyric change in Fantine’s Arrest. Y’all know Javert’s line “let him give a full description, let him answer to Javert.” Well this production switched “him” to “them” for some reason. Like I’m all for inclusivity, but this is not the character you want to showcase that with. This scene is literally a perfect example of the ways Fantine is at a disadvantage when it comes to conflicts with the law. She’s a poor sex worker in the early 19th century. Her side of the story was never going to be heeded. This is why the pronoun switch confuses me. It implies a certain level of impartiality on Javert’s part that simply is not present. He immediately takes Bamatabois‘s word and uses that to justify arresting Fantine. Javert wasn’t looking for just any well meaning witness to speak up, he defaulted to listening to the “respectable” man. His closed-mindedness is kinda the point.

LES MIS LETTERS IN ADAPTATION - Change of Gate, LM 4.3.4 (Les Miserables 1967)
“Father, I am very cold in your rooms; why don’t you have a carpet here and a stove?” “Dear child, there are so many people who are better than I and who have not even a roof over their heads.” “Then why is there a fire in my rooms, and everything that is needed?” “Because you are a woman and a child.” “Bah! must men be cold and feel uncomfortable?” “Certain men.” “That is good, I shall come here so often that you will be obliged to have a fire.”

Was NO ONE going to tell me that in the current North American tour Thenardier changes "this one's a queer, but what can you do?" to "this one's a queer, I think I'll try too"?!?!?

Not only does Jehan Prouvaire dress in a bold way that isn't quite taste-adjacent, they also change outfits seemingly magically.
You see them in the morning wearing one thing, at the meeting they are wearing something else. You turn your back on them at a gathering and their elaborately awful outfit has changed to something equally as horrific but the polar opposite of what they had on before
